Shufflers, rail riders and wooks are all getting ready to descend up Las Vegas’ Motor Speedway come this May for EDC Las Vegas. This year’s theme? Kinetic Energy; and who better to announce it than Bill Nye himself, better known to generations of fans as “the science guy.” Yes, that Science Guy.
Nye will also be on hand to open this year’s kineticENERGY EDC on the cosmicMEADOW stage.
As fans come to enjoy, experience and enliven their lives through the energy of PLUR, the soul pounding drum of bass and the kinetic vibes of the #fam old and new coming together, there’s no one better who metaphorically stands for all these things than Nye himself.
According to EDC founder, Pasquale Rotella, Nye embodies the very heart of EDC’s energy.
“He’s beloved by so many in this community, and with this year’s Kinetic Energy theme, it felt like the perfect collaboration. I’ve always believed this music and these events are good for the mind, body and spirit. Bill brought his own unique energy to this special reveal to help spread that message. I can’t wait for him to kick off our Opening Ceremony at EDC Las Vegas,” said Rotella in a press release.
In a fitting manner with the stars aligning under the electric sky, Nye came to the Insomniac headquarters on National Science Day to film a fun and energetic announcement revealing this year’s theme.
“Think of the potential,” said Bill Nye in a press release. “Hundreds of thousands of people moving their bodies, freeing their minds, and dancing to music under the glow of spectacular light. “We’ll convert all this potential to a carnival of kinetic energy!”
This year’s EDC kicks off on May 17-19 in Las Vegas. Ravers, shufflers and bangers will be greeted by eight unique stages, one of the most memorable fireworks displays ever seen, laser light shows that dazzle the eyes and most all, headliners who share heart and most importantly, energy, with one another.
Lineups have yet to be announced, but with Skrillex having just wrapped up things at EDC Mexico, headliners can only hope that he will make a long overdue appearance at this year’s EDC Las Vegas.
So, start working on that KANDI and get ready to bring the energy in May. For more information, check out the EDC Las Vegas website.
